Lars Mikkelsen3-765x1024At age 27, he enrolled at the National Theatre School of Denmark where he graduated in 1995. In addition to his appearance in the drama series that was released worldwide under the name The Killing, he subsequently participated in two other internationally acclaimed Danish dramas, Those Who Kill and Borgen III. He played Charles Augustus Magnussen, a blackmailer in an episode on BBC drama Sherlock. He was Russia's president on the American TV show House of Cards. He won an International Emmy Award in 2018 for his role in Danish TV drama Herrens Veje, which was shown in the UK in 2019 under the name Ride upon the Storm.In addition to his native Danish, Mikkelsen speaks fluent Swedish, German and English, and he has mastered diverse accents. According to Mikkelsen's account that he learned English from his brother through listening to Monty Python recordings and watching the comedy sketches.
